The manufacture given to Austin and Seeley, closely resembles an extant drawing of this group within a mid-19th century correspondence with Lady Pembroke of the Wilton Estate.
Of large parkland scale, the group raised on a solid carved stone base possibly alludes to Bacchus, with the dangling grapes and playful nature of composition, though no other attributes are present and so can also be considered as simply putto at play.
Group height: 122cm
